Non-Profit Credit Repair

Non-profit credit repair. Information on non-profit credit repair.

With the constant barrage of advertising that credit repair companies pump into newspapers, television and on the Internet, you might be forgiven for not being aware of the non-profit credit repair option. But the fact of the matter is that non-profit credit repair is usually just as effective when it comes to cleaning up your credit report.

In stark contrast to credit repair companies, the majority of which charge exorbitant amounts of money for services they can't even guarantee, non-profit credit repair is very trustworthy.

In the US, every state will have non-profit credit counseling services, including services that help to repair credit. Apart from having local bureaus, many of these bureaus can also be found in universities, military bases and housing authorities.

Many of these non-profit credit repair organizations - although they rarely go by that specific term - offer these services at little or no cost to interested customers who find themselves unable to get a home mortgage or car loan because of their bad credit.

The reason they can do this is very simple: the nation's credit bureaus don't actually charge their customers to make inquiries into their credit scores. It's free. But unlike the non-profit credit repair option, regular credit repair companies take advantage of this fact and charge their clients way too much money.

Theoretically speaking, the best way to benefit from non-profit credit repair is to actually call the credit bureau and deal with them yourself. It's free and not very difficult. It just requires a little bit of time and effort.
